Jonai is the easternmost sub-division of Dhemaji District in the state of Assam and is about 554
kilometers away from the state capital Dispur (Guwahati) and 100 kilometers away from the
District head quarter of Dhemaji. Covering a total geographical area of 1111.81 Sq. Km, and its
population is 1, 43,199.It is bounded by Arunachal Pradesh in the North, Lali (Brahmaputra)
River in the South, Sipiya River & Sadiya Subdivision of Tinisukia district in the East and
Simen River in the West. The sub-divisional head quarter Jonai is located between Arunachal
Pradesh and river Lali known as Brahmaputra in the North-East part of Assam at 95.160 E
longitudes and 27.770 N. latitude.
